A study in 2009 published in the The Journal of Fertility and Sterility, found that taking up to 600 milligrams a day of Coenzyme Q10 actually helped to improve egg quality in older women and improved fertilisation rates.

In another 2009 study published in The Journal of Urology , Coenzyme Q10 was found to improve male infertility. The study reported that 300 mg of the supplement for 30 weeks, improved both sperm density and motility.

Now, in 2011, Canadian scientists are looking to help make older human eggs young again and maybe even slow menopause. They hope that their findings regarding coenzyme Q10 could make it easier for women in their 40s and perhaps beyond to have babies.

Initial experiments in mice have suggested that coenzyme Q10 makes older mice produce more and healthier eggs. This has prompted a study with women 35 and older who are undergoing fertility treatments (IVF).
